Limassol’s 53rd Wine Festival kicks off on Thursday, August 28.
It will continue until and including Sunday, September 7 giving visitors an excellent opportunity to sample the best of the local wine industry.
Entertainment and cultural events at various points around the Municipal Gardens during the festival include performances by Limassol Municipal Brass Band, the Ariones Choir and the ‘Dionysos’ Limassolian Cultural and Dancing Group during the 8pm opening ceremony on August 28.
Happenings every evening throughout the rest of the festival include Greek language theatre productions, music and dance performances, magic shows and shadow puppet theatre shows. Clowns Bananoulis and Pipi will also be putting in an appearance. The Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) will provide free transportation to the Wine Festival from Nicosia, Larnaca, Ayia Napa and Paphos on the festival’s two Fridays and weekends. The Wine Festival will be open 7-11pm every day but on Friday and Saturday closing time is half an hour later.
There is a €6 entrance fee for adults, which includes a free bottle of wine from either ETKO, KEO, LOEL or SODAP. Teenagers aged 13-18 pay €5 and children under 12 €4.
A plastic wine bottle for free samples will set you back €1.50 as will a wine glass, while a wine glass with a stem costs €2.50. Free parking will also be made available.
