Low-cost carrier, Vueling, is to commence direct flights between Barcelona and Larnaca come the end of June, as a preliminary effort to ascertain whether this route will prove profitable.
Tracking the performance of flights this summer, the Spanish company will thereafter decide as to whether to strengthen the service come summer 2015, IN Business reports.
The Barcelona-Larnaca flights are to be trialed for a two-month period.
Vueling was founded in 2004, and currently flies to 106 destinations with a fleet of 78 aircraft.
Hermes Airports and the Cyprus Tourism Organisation have intensified efforts to encourage new carriers to service the island, especially airlines that could open up destinations in central and southern Europe, such as Germany, France, and Italy.
