Discover the Charm of Peggy’s Secret Garden Café: A Hidden Gem in Peyia
Ever tried putting on a woolly jumper in the middle of a heatwave? Wild, right? Well, that’s how a heavy meal feels when the sun’s blazing down. If you’re on the hunt for something lighter, Peggy’s Secret Garden Café in Peyia, a super coral bay restaurant, is the ticket. But here’s the twist: you gotta be in the know to spot it!
A Secret Peyia Restaurant Worth Visiting
Perched along the main drag up to the village center, Peggy’s hides snugly in a quaint Peyia village abode. Blink and you’ll whizz right past it! But oh, when you do step into the garden, it’s clear why folks flock here for brekkie, a cuppa, or a cheeky afternoon tea. “Think Narnia, but with scrumptious bites,” a cheeky visitor once said.
The garden, sneaky like a side road, bursts with pecan, mulberry, lemon, pomegranate, and fig trees. Since the new owners rolled in over three years back, they’ve jazzed up the seating, crafting a calm oasis. Got a ramp for all and cracking sea views, it’s the primo spot for sunset chasers. Hot tip: nab a seat under the mulberry tree’s cool shade.
Breakfast and Beyond
Peggy’s kicks off the day with breakfast till 11:30 am, dishing up a smorgasbord of English, Scottish, veggie, or Cypriot styles. Whether you’re hankering for a bacon roll or a wholesome yogurt with fruit and granola, they’ve got the goods. Oh, and their coffee? Top-shelf stuff from Beanhaus Coffee Roasters.
The menu’s a chameleon, with daily sweet and savory surprises. On our jaunt, we noshed on a sautéed rib-eye steak with shrooms and onions, or a roast pork ciabatta with stuffing and apple sauce. The main lineup also teases with tempting wraps, platters, and sarnies. Come summer, it’s salad galore!

A Taste of Bliss
My mate and I split a rib-eye steak ciabatta and a cheese and caramelized onion quiche. With a sidekick of salad, potato salad, and coleslaw, these homemade gems were a smash hit. The quiche, warm and packed with flavor, was just the ticket for sharing. The steak ciabatta? A hearty bite of pure yum!
For dessert, we couldn’t pass up Peggy’s homemade lemon meringue pie. The café also parades a daily-changing cake lineup, from choccy to coconut. Their afternoon tea, with a drink of your choice, is the stuff of local legends.
Drinks and Dining
Beyond their posh coffees, the café offers pocket-friendly milkshakes, smoothies, beers, and wines. The service? Friendly and sharp as a tack, making it the perfect joint to catch up with mates or work in peace. As they say, “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” Behind Peggy’s modest looks, a charming experience waits.
